I
joined the Jewellery trade 25 years ago at Ogdens in Harrogate and it
was here that I
developed my passion for watches, in particular wrist watches. After leaving
Ogdens, I went on to be manager for Goldsmiths in Harrogate, working with
brands such as Rolex and Cartier, and experienced the formative years
of Tag Heuer.
From
there I moved to York and helped to establish Patek Philipe, Jaeger Le
Coultre and IWC
among others. It was at this time I begun to study the Vintage wrist watch
market, helped largely by the Members of the National Association of clock
and watch makers in America. As I studied and dealt in these older vintage
watches I began to notice the wide and varied designs by Heuer before
they were taken over by Tag in the early 1980's.
I
began to collect examples from the 1960's and 1970's and eventually put
together a collection
with the then managing director of Tag Heuer, Neil Duckworth. The collection
was auctioned
by Sotheby's in what still is the only ever themed Heuer auction. Record
prices were achieved, and as a result Heuer is now taken seriously as
a collectable brand the world over.
I
now deal in many kind of Vintage watches but still specialise in Heuer.
I am a contributor for QP magazine, International Wrist Watch magazine
and for BBC Radio Lincolnshire.
I
am happy to announce that i have rejoined Ogdens as the manager and can
be contacted during office hours on 01423 504123.
