The last chapter of the Heuer Autavia came in 1984 through a series of 11603 reference Autavias. Their large cases were coated in four colours, matched by its dial and bracelet, comprising of a black coated case, grey coated case, olive drab case and gold-plated case. Undoubtedly, the Autavia went out with a bang. Its four final versions remain rare and desirable facets of Heuer’s vintage catalogue prior to TAG’s takeover the following year in 1985.

Each of the four models this family incorporates applied metal hour indexes and black or white contrasting 5-minute intervals on the 30-minute chronograph register at 3 o’clock. Notably the caseback, featuring similar engravings as early generations of TAG Heuer watches, is a unique feature to these final wave of Autavias. Its PVD coating sets this reference apart from previous versions of the Autavia, with this example featuring a matte grey finish to allow the blackened hands and accents to float seamlessly above a gentle grey dial. The stark beauty of the grey 112.603 reference earns the admiration of Heuer fanatics, combining the bold functionality of the Autavia with the brand’s simplicity which birthed some of history’s greatest chronographs.

This example is in good condition, with an immaculate dial and minor markings to the PVD case. However some hard scratching is visible on the left-hand side of the case, above the crown. This is not visible when wearing the watch on the wrist. Its automatic movement is working perfectly and keeping good time.
