The Heuer Carrera remains one of the most iconic and revolutionary designs in watchmaking history. Released in the mid 1960s, Heuer’s stripped back, dynamic chronograph is praised for its complicated yet starkly beautiful design. As a result, the original wave of 36mm Carrera models have become highly collectible, thus commanding a steeper price point.
This model known as the ‘Pre-Carrera’ shows the early innovations of Jack Heuer in making one of history’s greatest chronographs. Simply signed ‘Heuer’ with a reference of 913132, this Pre-Carrera measures at 36mm with a stripped back silver dial, featuring twin subdials, Autavia-esque hands and triangular hour markers. Interestingly, this model features the rare polygon shaped case back.
This example remains in oustanding condition and is presented on a custom black leather racing strap. The Pre-Carrera presents an excellent opportunity to invest in the prototype for the legendary Carrera and a cost-effective entry into Heuer collecting.
