The Carrera 3147 models were released in 1966, a decade of significant growth for the Heuer brand. This first execution model, featuring a luscious black dial and black sub-dials, is a special and highly sought after collectors item. This Carrera’s most prominent feature is its date window with red numerals positioned just beneath the shortened twin facets at 12 o’clock. Notably, the ‘Carrera’ and ‘Heuer’ logos are lowered slightly to the centre, offering a look which stands out from such typically famous Carrera designs as the 2447N. The decision was soon made to reposition the date to the 9 o’clock position to aid in legibility, altering the colour of the lettering to black and its shape to more squared. Furthermore this early version does not feature the signed Heuer crown found on later models, only adding to its status as a rare, historical piece.
Only a small handful of these historic Carrera pieces remain in circulation, thus presenting a rare opportunity to buy the highly revered 3147N. This particular version remains in great condition and comes fastened to a black racing strap with its original Heuer ‘sun’ buckle: the epitome of classic Heuer heritage.
