1972 saw the introduction of numerous pieces into the Heuer catalogue to boost sales and expand its range. While more affordable editions of the existing Carrera, Autavia and Monaco models were released with the Calibre 15 movement, Heuer manufactured a series of daring new models, such as the Calculator and the Montreal, to turn heads toward the brand. Known for its oversized case and bold colourways, the Montreal is quintessentially ’70s.
Notably different from other watches in the range, the Montreal’s innovative design is widely revered by collectors today. The Calibre 12 Montreal remained in the Heuer catalogue for just four years until the second-series Montreal took its place. The second-series lost much of the innovations of its predecessor, swapping out Heuer’s own in-house movement for the latest Valjoux movement. Thus, the Cal. 12 range remains scarce and highly sought after. This Montreal Ref. 110503N remains in utterly outstanding condition, retaining its subtle brushed finished which is rarely found on most vintage Heuer watches. Produced in a four-year window, the demand for these beloved Montreals is understandably high. A worthwhile investment and a marvel of a timepiece, this 110503N reference is a must have for any collector.
