Certainly one of Heuer’s most intriguing releases in its history, the Heuer Solunar is an automatic tide watch which incorporates vibrant design features which stand out from most Heuer models. Upon its addition to the Heuer family in the 1950s, this watch was depicted as the first tidal watch with an automatic movement. Its name ‘SOLUNAR’ is derived from ‘SOL’ (sun) and ‘LUNAR’ (moon) with respect to its tide-measuring capabilities.
Possibly its most notably feature is its huge black and silver bezel with red print which circulates a metallic blue dial with both a day and date feature integrated at 3 o’clock. Furthermore the dial is surrounded by an angled inner bezel displaying ‘MON’ to ‘SUN’ in both black and white. The two bezels operate together to indicate low and high tide over a period of two weeks. This all original model is powered by an automatic ETA movement.
For passionate Heuer collectors and enthusiasts, this Heuer Solunar is exploding with character and will stand out in any collection. Capturing both flamboyance and the mechanical finesse of golden age Heuer watches, this piece is a must-have.
