An exceptional late 1970s Heuer Verona 361.215 N, featuring the ‘superflat’ quartz movement, steel/gold plated case and glossy black dial. The advent of quartz watches in the 1970s caused upheaval in the Swiss watchmaking industry, causing many leading brands to pivot away from traditional movements in favour of battery-operated watches.

Heuer was no exception, and throughout the 1970s the brand introduced multiple quartz editions of famous Heuer lines in what was deemed ‘spaceage technology in beautiful design’. The Verona 361.215 N is a product of Heuer’s shift in direction, and was released alongside multiple quartz offerings in 1978. This example features a date and sweepsecond hand before a black luminous dial. Its 38mm stainless steel case includes a decorative gold-plated bezel and crown, characteristic of late-’70s design.

This example remains in excellent original condition. This rare model has a short production window of only two years (1978-1979) – a pivotal time in Heuer’s history, mere years before the brand’s rebirth as TAG Heuer in 1985 following its acquisition.
