Furthering TAG Heuer’s intimate relationship with motorsport, the Carrera CAR2A12 celebrates the 40th anniversary of McLaren’s first world title in 1974. In 1974, Brazilian driver Emerson Fittipaldi won the first of his two World Championships for McLaren – the team’s first ever Grand Prix win. It came as no surprise that TAG Heuer would commemorate this win in 2014 through the release of a highly desirable variation of its legendary Carrera.
While based on the 43mm Carrera 1887 Ceramic Bezel, this CAR2A12 boasts several unique features. Firstly, its silver opaline (white) dial is exclusive to this model only, contrasting beautifully with black subdials beneath and above 12 and 6 o’clock. McLaren’s traditional orange detailing pierces through this monochrome display on the seconds hand, ‘automatic’ text and features on the ceramic tachymeter bezel.
This incredible watch, #1328 of 1974 produced, is powered by a CH1887 automatic movement, visible through a display back case. It is accompanied by a generic TAG Heuer box with no paperwork.
Examples of this watch are rarely found – proving significantly popular upon its release. As with all limited releases, fans of the TAG Heuer brand enjoy the racing connection that the brand so proudly upholds.
